What we can offer…
Working alongside the curriculum or as a separate project entirely we can work with the students to produce a stunning inspirational piece of textile work.
The children absolutely love using the sewing machines and learn various practical skills whilst improving fine motor skills, elements of design, collaboration, using the sewing machine itself and teamwork.
Past projects have included:
- A remembrance poppy wall hanging where students designed, cut and machine sewed an individual poppy which were then combined to make a collaborative wall hanging which hangs proudly in the school.
- The ‘Titanic’ book was a whole class collaborative project. The children used work they had produced in class, sewing on to a variety of textiles and media, including fact finding written pieces and illustrated clothing representative of the Titanic passengers and crew. They also created mixed media pages depicting the story of the Titanic. The centre of the book was a 4 page pull out fabric illustration of the Titanic at sea.
- Re-designing their school uniform for the future which included adding in a micrphone for presentations, reflective materials for safety and an electronic patch on their sleeve that could submit homework and register the children as they walked through school instead of the register.
- A collaborative 5 metre hanging depicting the school values and mission which children from year 1-6 worked on.
